Colonial CASA Welcomes Donna Dittman Hale
|
Colonial CASA is pleased to welcome Donna Dittman Hale as the Interim Executive Director! Donna Dittman Hale will be serving in this capacity until September to afford the Board of Directors significant time in searching for the right person to serve as our next Executive Director. Donna owns her own consulting agency focusing on facilitation, grant resource development and planning for community initiatives. She was also one of the original founders of the Historic Triangle Substance Abuse Coalition or, HTSAC. Donna served as a Grant Officer for the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation for many years. These are only a few of the examples highlighting Donna’s wealth of managerial and resource development experience. Donna is thrilled to be a part of the team and has shared the following:
"As you may know, Robin Bledsoe has resigned her position at Colonial CASA and is beginning her new role as the Executive Director of Avalon. In the meantime, I will be serving as the Interim Executive Director for Colonial CASA over the summer until the Board of Directors has an opportunity to hire a new Executive Director. The Colonial CASA Board of Directors has formed an Executive Search Committee, and begun collecting resumes. They anticipate having the new Executive Director on board by September.
My goal is to ensure a smooth transition for the agency and to provide feedback to the organization on opportunities to strengthen its presence and support in the community. I hope you will contact me with any questions, suggestions or ideas related to the services of Colonial CASA. I look forward to meeting each of the CASA volunteer advocates in the coming months and learning more about the important work you are doing in support of the children of our community. Thanks for all you are doing."
Some of you have had the fortune of meeting Donna Hale, Colonial CASA's Interim Executive Director. For those of you who have not yet had this opportunity, I encourage you to stop by the office or attend the next Monthly Meeting, July 10th at 11:30am to meet her. |

Meet Donna, Eat M&Ms, and Earn Continuing Education Credit |
Why should I come to these Monthly Meetings? If this question sounds familiar, you should know that...
Each Monthly Meeting has:
- M&M candy to go with the theme (though we have been remiss in the past, I promise there will be ample chocolate this time);
- An opportunity to meet Donna and provide her with valuable insight into the life of a CASA Advocate;
- Learn vital program updates; and,
- Meet other CASA volunteers and share advice on active cases.
We hope to see you all at the next monthly meeting! July 10th at 11:30am.

Important Contacts for CASA Emergency
|
As you know, Colonial CASA constantly seeks ways to better serve and support its advocates as well as the children and families they serve. Recently, there has been significant discussion regarding staff availability. In the event of an emergency, we want to ensure that each advocate can contact a Colonial CASA staff member after regular office hours.
Each CASA advocate has the personal contact information for his/her case supervisor. But, we have decided to add phone numbers for all staff to that list.

Virginia State CASA Conference Coming to Williamsburg
|
| As many of you know, the Virginia State CASA Conference has picked Williamsburg, Virginia to host its biannual State Conference. Colonial CASA is looking forward to sharing its love of Williamsburg with its fellow CASA programs, GALs, and Social Workers.
Before leaving Colonial CASA, then Executive Director Robin Bledsoe, secured a grant to pay for each Colonial CASA advocate and staff member to attend the Conference. So,mark your calendars for October 13-14 and stay tuned for more updates.
If you are interested in helping with the Virginia State Conference, please email Barbara McElroy, Program Specialist.

Ten Thousand Villages Supports CASA Program
|
Ten Thousand Villages, located in Newport News, features fairly traded handicrafts from around the world. On Sunday, July 30th from 12 to 7pm, they will donate 20% of their daily sales to Newport News CASA.
Often, Newport News CASA and Colonial CASA partner on various community activities/involvement. Even though this does not directly benefit Colonial CASA, it benefits children in need who are served by community advocates. At the end of the day, our missions are the same. So, if you are in the area and would like to support local artisans and Newport News CASA, stop by! You could even get a heads start on your holiday shopping!
